Time keeps on tickin’ (too slowly) into the future

4 days 14.5 hours until Cara arrives. *sigh* While we wait…watch this:

Elevator - Episode 08

And so I told them…. Oh…uh…you’re back, well, try this:

Confuse-A-Cat Ltd.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz Hmphm? Oh, you’re back again? Okay, here you go:

I’m gonna get it

And - here you are - of course, where else would you be? Certainly not off working, or doing something productive - no - you’re here pestering me for more funny videos. Okay, here you go … WARNING: Not Exactly Safe For Work:

From our childhood - oh, if only we had known….

Okay, this is ridiculous. Fine, one last clip - that’s it - I mean it - don’t say I didn’t warn you:

The Elephant Story

And … goodnight!

Zoned out

I’ve been busy and simultaneously zoned out. Nothing of outstanding interest has happened in the last few days, so I haven’t posted.

I mean, do you honestly want daily posts that tell you about grocery shopping, laundry, cooking, cleaning, and playing with my kids. I didn’t think so.

Next Wednesday things will be busy and interesting as Cara will be arriving! HOORAY!

Anything exciting in your district of Crazyland?

Announcement regarding the small Oakland quake

Yes - we felt it.
No - it didn’t do any damage.
Yes - it woke us up … it was 4:42 in the morning, after all.
No - it didn’t wake the boys up.
Yes - they are fine.
No - we weren’t freaked out.
Yes - we are fine.
What it was like - there was a deep rumble and the house creaked; then there was a slight shimmy. Then it was over.

If you’d like more information, please see this earthquake report. Click on the nicely sized blue square.

And I didn’t read about any damage to the Berkeley Bowl - and believe me, if there was - it would have been mentioned. So don’t worry. ;-)

I do wonder if Dark Carnival employees have some reshelving to do - but then again, would anyone notice? :-P I’m only teasing. I love that place as everyone knows.

So that’s your report. Next?

Mah thumb’s still numb

Okay - so the doc has determined I don’t have carpal tunnel - but that didn’t magically make my thumb better. :-( So now we’re moving on to another layer of tests to see what it might be. It could be a pinched nerve somewhere else OR it could be residual damage from the accident (when I was 6 - a really bad one that almost killed my family - drunk driver). I’ll keep you posted.

How’s everyone else? :-)

Amusing SPAM: Trojan Detected

Dear Customer,

Our robot has detected an abnormal activity from your IP adress
on sending e-mails. Probably it is connected with the last

We recommend you to install this patch to remove worm files

Customer Support Robot

Oh, yeah, Customer Support Robot, I’ll be sure to click on that right away.

And by the way, which one of you mates keeps sending me “postcards”?

[PJ rolls her eyes] Apparently you have to fail an IQ test to be a spammer.

Time-Share Kitty Photos

Okay - just had to share these. These are pictures of Time-Share Kitty, aka Kitty-kitty aka Star Jelly.

Here she is resting:

And here she is informing her staff she’s hungry (uh, yeah, we’re her staff):

Isn’t she sweet!?

p.s. These were taken with my hubby’s phone camera - not bad, huh?

Wait-listed for VP.

So I received my email from Viable Paradise. I’m wait-listed. What this means is that I’m on a short list of folks who get to take the seats of any of the current attendees if they can’t - you know - attend.

It’s odd - I don’t want any of the current attendees to have to miss this chance - but if one of them doesn’t, then I won’t get to go … this year.

I’ve been strongly encouraged to apply again next year. Which I definitely plan on doing.

In the meantime, I’m back to waiting - but this time with a big smile on my face: I’m wait-listed for VP!

Oh, just to have a peek

A deceased man’s family auctioned off his collection of some 1,000 historical letters.  A love letter from Napolean to Josephine.  A letter from Elizabeth I.  Einstein, Voltaire, Donne, Dickens, Monet, Charlotte Bronte, Oscar Wilde, Oliver Cromwell, J.R.R. Tolkien, Beethoven, Churchill - the list goes on apparently.  The documents spread from the 13th to the 20th centuries.  Oh, for a quick peek at them.  Altogether the collection drew in around £3.8 million (or around $7.6 million using today’s exchange rate), most bought by private collectors.  One of the letters, written Ghandi and thought to be the last before his death, was being returned to India.  I believe the others were bought by private collectors.  I wonder how many will make their way to museums, or if these historical pages - these brief glimpses into the everyday thoughts of not only important people, but people from eras gone by - will be hidden away again.
