Blog called on account of ouchiness

I must have some kind of freaky virus.

Every joint in my body hurts - especially my back.

I am going to try to do as little as possible today.  Wish me luck.

I guess the title really doesn’t apply since this is technically an entry.  *sigh*  I need to go find my muscle relaxers now.  My next post may be a lot more interesting.  ;-)

If I were rich….

If I were rich I would so totally be hiring a personal assistant right now.  Ugh.  I have too so many things going on all at once, I think I’m losing my mind what was left of my mind.  :-D
All that said, I am making progress on my writing.  I’ve been doing fairly well at keeping on top of my podcast.  The kids don’t seem to be suffering too much - although we could be making more progress in their schoolwork.

Perhaps it’s just a phase.  Perhaps I just need more sleep.  Perhaps I need a vacation.  Where could I go?  Oh, wait, I am getting a vacation of sorts.  I’ll be attending my niece’s wedding in about 3 weeks.  In Indiana.

The cool thing about this - aside from my niece getting married - is that I will be able to spend some time with a few of my best friends.  One of them is going to drive about 4 1/2 hours to spend that Saturday with me and my strange lovely relatives.  The others aren’t driving nearly as far, mind you, but will be coming to see me on Sunday - when the relatives are all gone.  Strangely convenient, isn’t it?

Anyway - the boys and I are joining some other homeschoolers for a field trip today - to the Pumpkin Farm!  Yay!  Details later.

A post isn’t like a phone call

I don’t have a whole lot to say here.  I’ve been busy; I can say that.

A post isn’t like a phone call.  If I call you, and don’t have a lot to say.  You know, just one of those calls to hear your voice, let you know I care, say hi…  but then, see, you as the 2nd party to the call can interject your own questions, comments, etc.  And soon - a conversation is in full-swing! But not in a post ….

that’s what the comments are for!  So have at it!  Leave me some comments or questions for me to answer, and we’ll chat!

One busy cookie…

Sorry if my posts here are not very regular.  I am one busy cookie, you know.

Homeschooling, Podcasting, Writing, Voice Lesson-ing, House Frau-ing, Reading, and so on-ing.  LOL!

A couple of things I will share real quick:  Phil is going to start fencing lessons soon - and John is already more than half-way through the Kindergarten math book.  :-)

And now….for something completely different…tell me what you guys are up to…..

Update post #2

Friday was oh, so much fun! (not)

I walked out my front door to go on my morning walk when my neighbor across the street yells out “Check your tires!” Now, I know he’s not just passing this along like some kind of public service announcement….

(cue A-Team music; we see a large black van speeding toward us. It turns and stops perpendicular to the camera)

Mr T (slides back the side door and exits the van)-(staring and pointing at camera): I pity the fool who doesn’t check his treads!”

Announcer: This has been a public service announcement brought to you by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and PJ’s neighbor.

…so I go over to our truck - parked outside in the driveway - and sure enough one of our tires is flat. “Oh, crap,” I say. “Keep going,” he yells. Now I am seriously wondering about my neighbor, but I begin looking at the other tires. One more - seriously flat. My neighbor at this point is halfway across the street when I round the back of the truck. 2 flat - driver’s front, passenger’s back. Ugh. Neighbor shakes his head as I approach.

“I bet your others are toast, too,” he said with a sad, sympathic shake of his head. Something is afoot I realize, so I say, “Thanks, what’s up?” “You’re not alone,” he reassures me, “we have 16 flat. M (my next-door neighbor) has four; S has eight. It’s all up and down the street, and over on to R Ave right there.” So, he goes on to tell me the rest of the story as he knows it, and as I talk to others, here’s the scope of what I put together:

Apparently several kids drove around to several streets in several neighborhoods in a certain area and stabbed all four tires of a lot of vehicles that were parked either on the street OR in someone’s driveway, it didn’t matter - with ice picks. They hit something like 80 tires on our street alone.

So we got to go and buy 4 new tires for the truck.  Fun.

I hope they catch them - I really really do.

In yet other news - we’ve finally managed to clean up the garage enough that we can now park both the car and the truck in it. Whoo-hoo!

Update post #1

Okay - so on Monday, I took the boys with me to run a bunch of errands.  Nice thing about homeschooling - you can do things like that.  So, we get started on said errands, and then in the bank parking lot, P trips and lands hard.

He was complaining a lot about his wrist and kind of crying; then he was fine, though he said it hurt; then he was crying again.  He wouldn’t really let me touch it much - so I couldn’t assess too much.  The way he was answering my questions about how and where and when it hurt, though, concerned me enough to rush him over to the pediatrician’s office.

So on the way there - P and J were wanting to know what might or might not be the cause and solution to P’s pain.  P does not like surprises - at all - so I calmly went through all possibilities, explaining that we might have to take Phil somewhere for an x-ray.

J asked me: “Isn’t an x-ray the thing that takes a picture of your bones?”  I said yes.  He said:  “Yeah, P needs one of those.”  He mentioned the x-ray several more times.
Then, when we’re in the exam room waiting, J. wonders again if the doctor will take an x-ray - I say:  “I don’t know.  I guess we’ll see.”

The doctor walks in - asks what happened - and begins to examine P.

J pipes up:  “We really should so an x-ray, to check the bones.

Dr. L looks at me; I shrug.

Dr. L tells J. “I don’t know that we need to worry about that yet.”  He continues to examine P for another minute or so, and J says again “I really believe it would be a good idea.”

Dr. L again looks at me; I smirk and shrug.

“Well,” says Dr. L, “I don’t think we need to.  He’s simply strained it.”

J shakes his head and says “An x-ray would be a good idea because then we could look at his bones and make sure that none of them are broken or damaged.”

Dr. L looks like he’s going to crack up, but very calmly he says, “Really, J, he hasn’t broken anything.  He’ll be fine.”

J looks quite sad and says, “But I wanted to see his bones.  Can we do one anyway, just in case?”

Dr. L shakes his head and turns to talk to P about what to do/not do about his wrist.  J, meanwhile, with a sad shake of his head and crossed arms, sits beside me and says quietly, “I still think it would be a good idea.”

What could I do?  :-)   My youngest son was sitting there trying to convince the doctor to x-ray his brother just so he could see his brother’s bones!  I am happy that Dr. L was just as amused as I was.  If he only knew the whole story, though.  J is the only child I’ve ever known whose bedtime stories were pages from the The Human Body book!

And the good news was it was only strained.  P is doing fine, though he says it will start to ache a little now and then.  He’s taking it easy on it.
