See Cara Blog. Blog, Cara, Blog!

My best friend, Cara, has her own regular blog now. She’s gotten the bug, I tell ya’! She also has a knitting blog, too. Swing by and take a peek.

She blames me, but I deny any wrong doing whatsoever! :-)

But who will play Raistlin?

There will be a Dragonlance movie. Lucy Lawless is slated for Goldmoon; Michael Rosenbaum for Tanis. But who will play Raistlin?! I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

(and yes, I posted this over on my other site; but not everyone here reads that site, too, soooooooo nyah. :-) )

Movie: Cars

Pixar slam dunks it again with Cars!

This movie was awesome. We went to a matinee on Saturday with the boys and our friend, SMJ. SMJ is a single, hetero, Bay Area computer geek…but loves hanging with us anyway. We had a great time.

The movie is … wow. I know it’s not gotten the usual screaming-from-the-rooftops kind of reviews, but we think that’s because it’s exactly the kind of wonderful people have come to expect from Pixar.

There’s so many great things to say about this movie - it would take up to much room - so I’m just going to say this: GO SEE THIS MOVIE! I don’t care if you’re an adult with no kids. Borrow somebody’s kids so you can go - or be brave and go anyway.

:-) Ka-CHOW!

Hmmm - maybe next time

Everyone who knows me in the Big Blue Room (aka the Real World) knows I like to color my hair red. Here’s a pic:

Now, this is by no means the reddest I’ve been. :-) I love my hair when it’s really red. Right now, it’s redder than in that picture. But - it’s only a temporary color. :-( So, I will probably be heading off for the beauty shop in a couple of weeks to get a more permanent color. Well, as permanent as you can get with red. Red is temperamental. It wears out quickly.

Of course, I could always go to HairCrazy.com. They have some wild stuff there. However, I think I’ll save that for … another time. Maybe for New Year’s or the sale of my first novel; you know, something special.

;-)

I think I’m coming down with something

I am not feeling 100% I think I’ve picked up a cold or other bug from the plane. No surprise there. There’s a whole lot of people all trapped in a mostly small space with recirculated air.

Still, while not expected, being sick is unwanted. I have a lot of stuff to do (luckily school stuff is off my plate till late August), and there’s just no time to be sick.

So, for all you witch doctors out there, get out your sacred staffs, put on your magic paints, and do a little “PJ-stay-well” dance for me!

The Official “Sorry I Haven’t Been Posting” Post

You know the drill. Now, on to where I’ve been. Well, we had a whirlwind visit to Indiana this weekend. Just the hubs and I - no kids. THAT. WAS. BIZARRE. As a parent, you get accustomed to a certain level of noise and a certain number of interruptions. When those are gone - for any reason - you began to go seeking your kids. You grow suspicious. What are they into? What are they damaging? What are they doing that they aren’t supposed to? you begin to think. Most of the time when this happens, I find my kids simply playing quietly or reading.

But this time - it was a bit unsettling. I missed them. They missed us, too, and were very very happy to see us. BIG THANKS TO JILL AND RANDY! They were so sweet to do this big favor for us. WE OWE YOU!

Friday we woke up and set about the packing ritual both for the boys and us. There were last minute trips to various places to pick up various things, but we finished up in plenty of time to play with the boys for a while before Jill arrived to pick them up. We had some time to relax before leaving for the airport. Our flight left at 12:30 a.m. Saturday (technically) morning! Ick! I managed to nap a little on the flight. After a brief layover in Minneapolis, we flew onto Indy where we landed at about 9:45 a.m. Picked up the car, and drove up to visit AJ’s mom. From there we went to visit his sister, and then next, drove over to an early dinner with his aunt. Still with us? Good. After that we drove to his best friend’s house to change and visit and prepare for his 20-year high school reunion. We showed up fashionably late, and left fashionably early. [The details are his to share - if he decides to post about it.] Afterwards, we drove back to Cliff’s house, chatted a little, and made it to bed somewhere between 12:30-1:00 a.m. Sunday morning alarm time: 5:00 a.m.! Departure from Cliff’s house: 5:25 a.m. Flight left Indy: 8:00 a.m. I slept very little on that flight; AJ slept a lot. It was okay, though; I mean, I was lonely with no one to talk to, but I got the chance to read, and besides: he was the one driving home from the airport. I needed him as rested as he could be. ^_^ We made it to the 101 with no trouble, whisked to the arranged meeting location, picked up the kids, grabbed some In-N-Out Burger, and finally welcomed ourselves home at about 12:30-1:00 p.m. yesterday.

Needless to say, the rest of the day we didn’t do a lot. Played with the kids - took naps - called for take-out. We did go to bed early last night - early for us, anyway - and today, we’re both a bit tired, but not as much as I expected.

AJ even got up and went to work today. We had a great time. There were no major problems, and we managed to do all the things on our list for this visit. It’s still good to be home, though.

Hopefully I will have something else to post later today, but don’t count on it. There’s a house to clean, bags to unpack, and children to play with today. ^_^

Ah, well…

A lot of the blogs I read don’t update every day. That’s fine - I have an RSS reader that lets me know when they do update, so I can read them. But some of them (a) are not RSS enabled and (b) don’t update much…. It’s frustrating. Like, there’s this one, let’s call it The Blog That May Not Be Named. Right now it has fashionable chicken wear displayed on it, which is all well and good, but it’s been that way for some time. There’s no mention as to how this person’s been doing lately - if any important events have happened or are going to happen - it just leaves us all wondering and thinking while staring at the same pictures of poultry attire we’ve been starting at for like 3 weeks now.

My purpose isn’t to really complain - after all, his blog is free; he doesn’t charge us to read it or anything, but still….

I just hope he’s not tied up in a tool shed with a latex rabbit or anything. And hey, if he’s got an Internet connection in there to read this - he could be posting…..

^_^

Hey! Happy Summer! (Long overdue update)

Well, okay, for us it isn’t “summer” yet. We are still in school this week and next… But outside - the weather says “summer summer summer”! :-) And for some of you - school is over, and you’re out and about having summer fun. Well, at least I hope you are. Now, some of you are people with “real” jobs (heh heh)…so, I’m not sure how you classify summer.

Our homeschooling program finishes the year with a huge splash next week. There’s a pool party! Isn’t that great? We think it is.

In other news, well, um … I’m waiting for some books from Amazon; and I’m waiting for the season finale of Doctor Who this Friday; and I’m waiting for frakkin’ OCTOBER - which is when the next season of Battlestar Galactica starts. I’m not so eagerly awaiting the end of August - as that’s when my oldest will start 5th grade and my youngest starts Kindergarten. (*sniff*) I’m just not sure I’m ready for them to be growing up so fast. I’ll be heading back east for my hubby’s reunion - I am looking forward to that as we’ll be able to visit with some friends of ours while we’re there. ^_^ AND - if all goes well - I’ll be visiting one of my best friends and my sister in early August.

My novels are moving along fairly well. I’m feeling a large amount of professional envy right now. Several previously unpublished writers I know have acquired agents and contracts. I am so happy for them, but at the some time, I feel a little sad that I’m not where they are yet. I’m sure several of you can relate to that.

Oh, and we had a garage sale on Saturday. We were open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and made over $200. In the words of my Uncle Jimmy, “That ain’t half bad!” :-) We didn’t sell some of the things we were hoping to - but did sell things we weren’t sure would go. Funny that.

I know I owe you all a report on the Bay Area Model. Maybe I’ll get to that tonight. Oh, and as I purchased the first season of Batman Beyond, Phillip is completely interested again - and John is hooked too. :-) Some of you who have actually met my kids may remember how into Batman Phillip was when he was younger - especially Batman Beyond. :-) It’s nice to see him and his brother connect like this.

How are all of you?
