Cloud of Sparrows
That’s the title of book I just finished. It’s fiction taking place during the 1860’s in Japan. The writing is what you would usually expect from someone’s first novel, but some of the history and background is pretty interesting. It has made me realize that I don’t have that much background on Japanese history - and so, a little research might be in order.

As the Novel Creeps…
Okay, so to update those who know - my novel is still very much in progress. Hey, I’m up to almost 16,100 words! There just hasn’t been any good writing time. I have two stages lately: tired and exhausted. Not very condusive to writing. I’ll keep you posted as I can.
In other news: AJ returns home tonight; John is in cute mode; and Phillip is bursting at the seams for Halloween to get here.

Picture Album
I have an account at .Mac - which I don’t use as much as I’d like…soooo…I thought I’d post some pics via an album. These were taken at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield.

What to do? What to do?
I’ve been surfing around the web - I have visions of a Silver Surfer in a Tron world in my head - and I’ve discovered that blogs fall into two main categories (and don’t get bent out of shape, because there could be many sub-categories): personal and political. I think the reason I feel at odds with my blog is that I haven’t *really* decided what I want it to be. This really gripes my monkey, by the way. See, I tend to hold personal details pretty close - except with those with whom I am very close friends - and there are so many political blogs out there that do better justice to the stories than I could. Hmmmmmm…. I will have to ponder this revelation and see where it gets me. Comments and suggestions (constructive and positive ones only, please) are welcome.

My new drink of choice - Chocolate Comrade
I have a new favorite drink - the few times I do drink. I call it a Chocolate Comrade. The recipe is as follows:
1 shot vodka
1 shot Kahlua
4 shots cream (little more or less - to taste)
Hershey’s chocolate syrup - a lot of it - YUM!
I looked on the Internet and in some bartender recipe books. I couldn’t find this recipe anywhere, so I decided I needed to name it. In case it was at least semi-original. Since Black Russian, Chocolate Russian, and Brown Russian were all taken - and different drinks - I came up with Chocolate Comrade!
So try one - I think you’ll love it!

I hate it when that happens…
I sliced my finger with a knife today. I hate that. Knife slices and paper cuts
are just wrong. The worst is that I didn’t feel it until I put my hand in a bunch
of warm, soapy water. Still, that isn’t as bad as the paper cut I had two weeks
back…it was right in the webbing between my first and middle fingers. Yowch.
I’m sure you’re all just deeply interested in my woes of minor lacerations, but
I didn’t really have much else to report here. AJ is out of town - and I always
feel incomplete when he’s away. I certainly do not function at full capacity. I can’t sleep well for one, and the boys always “act up” when he’s not home. I
guess that’s because the house sounds and feels different - and I’m more
grumpy - and kids -always- pick up on that.
As for Atlanta - I’m still not sure what I want to report. I will post some pics here soon. They are fairly interesting. We stopped by the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield. I tried to explain to Phillip that there was a Civil War - and that men fought a battle there almost 140 years ago. For him, that’s a *long* time. For a lot of people - that was a *long* time ago. But for me (and a few people in Europe), that’s a drop in the bucket. There are places in Europe where a mother could tell her son that a battle was fought there 1,000 years ago. Maybe that’s why some people act the way they do, they have no respect for
the history of this country. They have no concept of historical importance. No
time for anything “old-fashioned” be it hoop skirt or values.
Still, Phillip and John were both very fascinated by the canons - so there might still be hope yet. ^_^

It was long in coming…..
No longer will women have to leave their hubbies parked on benches in the mall, some place has got to step up to the plate as this German bar has done. They could have classes like “How to Watch Chick Flicks And Survive.” or “What to Say When She Asks How She Looks.” or “Name that Color.” Then there could be stand-by’s like “The Many Varieties of Beer.” or “NASCAR Made Easy.” ^_^ There would have to be lots of Doritoes, Pizza, Cokes, and beer for the American guys, though. And lunch would entail a super-sized Whopper w/Cheese value meal.

Missing Rambings
I had a whole entry here that discussed several points. I accidently deleted it - and can’t remember what I said. The Recall Election - Iraq - Sharia Law - and my hairdresser were mentioned. Talk amongst yourselves…imagine…enjoy.

CUBS WIN!!!!
HOLY COW! The Cubs have beat Atlanta - and that means they will play the Marlins in the NLCS - and then on to THE WORLD SERIES! Well, okay, I know they have to beat the Marlins first - but come on! ^_^ Have some faith! They will probably end up playing the Yankees in the WS since they are kicking butt and taking names….but we’ll see. It ain’t over til it’s over!
