Oops - this one’s not prey after all!

Score one for the good guys! And to the criminals mom, all I have to say is that I know you’re sticking up for your baby and all, but they have him for possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of crack cocaine - no one believes he’s innocent here.

Still, this is a good example of why concealed carry by decent citizens is still a good idea.

Everyone knows it’s Condi!

Condi Rice has been given the big nod - and if the Senate is smart - they’ll confirm her soon. I think the continued influence of Ms. Rice could only be good for this country.

Who’s been a prof of political science,
Who’s been in charge of Stanford’s budget,
Who is a real Femme de la Renaissance
Everyone knows it’s Condi

Who’s tripping down the streets of D.C.
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who’s reaching out to capture her moment
Everyone knows it’s Condi

And Condi’s been advisor
To the President
And Condi has guts to try
To make a change, to make a change

Who’s tripping down the streets of D.C.
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who’s reaching out to capture her moment
Everyone knows it’s Condi

Congrats!

This week’s Blog is: Suburban Blight! Kelley has an interesting point of view on life and children, and everything in between. You will love the Adventures of (her) Spiderman! So, go, read, and enjoy!

A National Review Online editorial….

that states what many of us know already. The media likes to report what they and their friends think, but they never actually do any real investigation or fact checking any more. It’s sad that most of us - just normal Americans who surf the net a bit - can find more real facts and data than they can. Maybe big media is going the way of the buggy whip.

Letter from John Hospers to Libertarian Party member

The entire lettter is interesting, I will include some excerpts here, but then provide a link to the whole letter for you to read. One thing he mentioned that I didn’t entirely agree with was the section where he mentions the Dem Party is full of anti-Semites, but the rest that followed, including the part about colleges rings true.

“The Democrat Party today is a haven for anti-Semites and various racists who despise the Constitution and care nothing for private property. It is opposed to free speech – witness the mania for political correctness on college campuses, and Kerry’s threat to sue television stations that carry the Swift Boat ads. It will use any possible means to suppress opposing viewpoints, particularly on talk radio and the Internet, and will enact “hate speech” laws and reinstitute the “fairness doctrine” and lawsuits designed to suppress freedom of speech. It has no truck with the rule of law except as a weapon to use against opponents.”

Hospers goes on - again I’ll let you read for yourselves - and then he says:….

Interesting site….

This place tracks polls and the Electoral Count and such.

UPDATE: Supposedly Channel One - which is a “cable” channel for the high schools around the country - has been 100% accurate on the last two elections.

The can of worms is opening….

Alaska has a measure on the ballot that will make a particular area of law very interesting for awhile. And it’s not just that this is taking place in Alaska - it’s that it will coincide with another interesting case (No. 03-1454) at the Supreme Court. From the Supreme Court website:

“03-1454 ASHCROFT, ET AL. V. RAICH, ET AL. QUESTION PRESENTED Whether the Controlled Substances Act, 21 U.S.C. 801 et seq., exceeds Congress’s power under the Commerce Clause as applied to the intrastate cultivation and possession of marijuana for purported personal “medicinal” use or to the distribution of marijuana without charge for such use. Certiorari Granted 6/28/04″

This will - no matter what some other editorials want to tell you - affect marijuana law –everywhere– I think many people (and thus states) have been leary of passing or relaxing any laws in favor of light marijuana use because of the larger federal issue. If this case goes in favor of those opposing Ashcroft and crew, many other states could follow. I am aware that it will mean that it will be taxed - and heavily you can bet - like alcohol and cigarettes. Still, there might be other benefits - medical, for starters, and reducing the number of people heavily prosecuted for a joint, while heavy users of heavier drugs walk on probation because there’s suddenly no room. Say “NO” to this!

It seems that the Mexican government is trying to find a way to let its citizens enjoy all the benefits of American services without going through all that messy immigration stuff. Take a look here: http://capwiz.com/liberty/issues/bills/?bill=1575401 , and then start telling your representatives how you feel about it.

Judge’s last words in Reid trial

Please go here to read the final words of the judge in the Richard Reid case. This man has a pair - too bad we can’t infuse some of this understanding and patriotism into some other (especially those in the Communist State of California).
