Mind you, for some reason dumb-ass congresscritters aren’t considered a threat to national security. If this fact doesn’t cause you at least some despair then you haven’t been paying attention.

How incredibly embarrassing.

God and Jesus I have no problem with. It’s the lunatics in their fan club that annoy me.

Not long ago we had a problem with our main UPS; it started to smell like hot plastic.

Which, it turns out, was true as the UPS was so hot I had to use oven mitts to remove it from the closet. I mean, that thing was hot. Later, after it had cooled down, I plugged it in to see if it passed the Power On Self Test. It failed miserably.

Today there was a free “E-Waste Removal” drive at Diablo Valley College, so I decided to take both of our dead UPS systems over there. While they would take the UPS electronics, I would have to dispose of the Lead-Acid batteries myself. I had already removed the battery from the smaller UPS, but I had not yet gotten to remove them from the large “hot” UPS.

When I opened it up and pulled them out this is what I saw (click for much larger image):

Wow. The batteries had gotten so hot that they had welded themselves together. We’re lucky we didn’t have a fire.

Surprised the boys last night and took them to Transformers.

I’m actually pretty easy to please when it comes to movies, so don’t expect a critical review here. Considering who the movie is aimed at and the original material… it was pretty good. There were actually times I forgot about the rest of the audience and the movie theater while watching it.

Today will be all Transformers, all day long – of that I’m certain.
