Yay Sony!

Yes, you read that correctly.

Normally I’m down on Sony – mostly due to their customer service (or lack thereof) and their attempts to lock down the media I have legally purchased in ways that I don’t appreciate.

However, we’ve had these DVD’s that came on DVD+R media – not DVD-R – and could not be read by our Panasonic DVD player. :(

Well, I was going to transcode them, shrink the data and re-encode on a DVD-R when I decided (on a whim) to throw the DVD+R media into our Sony PlayStation 2… and it worked! No one can accuse Sony of skimping in the PS2 specs.

So, tonight my family and I get to watch The Show That Shall Not Be Named. Thank you, Sony! :)

And, thank you Bruce.

‘Freedom Is About Authority’: Excerpts From Giuliani Speech on Crime

You can find the original publication of his statements here

Allow me to quote:

We look upon authority too often and focus over and over again, for 30 or 40 or 50 years, as if there is something wrong with authority. We see only the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don’t see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.

In other news: Slavery is Freedom. War is Peace.

Yeah… I’m going to vote for this guy.

In fact, with the exception of Ron Paul (who has, in my estimation, no chance at all) there isn’t a single Republican candidate I would even think of voting for – they are all either creepy, not trustworthy (Hello, Mitt Romney!) or a megalomaniac… like this guy.

Mark my words: Giulliani is a narcissistic control freak. I can’t wait for him to self-destruct when the real Rudy shows himself to the cameras. Until now the only people that have seen this side of good ol’ Rudy is New Yorkers, but I expect the fireworks to go off for all of us before the ‘08 election.
