If you’ve seen anything in the news coverage, you’ve seen this picture: the picture of Israeli girls signing artillery shells that will be sent into Lebanon.

I’m sure you’ll be highly surprised to find out that this was all set up by some reporters who were on the scene. adloyada.typepad.com reports on How to demonize Israel.

I guess a bunch of kids signing bombs is all it takes to “demonize” Israel.
Maybe the billions of dollars they get from the USA will help heal their wounds.
Then again maybe US and Israeli policies are the problem.
Take a look and view with
    an open mind.

Well, if you truly want to make Israel look bad why not use something historically truthful instead of creating photo ops that are patentely false?

Here’s one: The USS Liberty Incident.

Israel has always been for… Israel. They spy on us, much as I’m certain we spy on them.

What surprises me is on one side you have a group, openly funded and armed by Iran and Syria, operating in a country that doesn’t really want them there (if you don’t believe that, you can talk to a Lebanese I know who can correct that notion…). They’re MO? Fire rockets into civilian areas with the express purpose of killing civilians.

On the other side you have a democracy – yes, it has issues, but it is arguably a free society – that responds to people trying to kill their civilians and they are the bad guys.

Yes, mechanized warfare is bad. No argument. I’d like to hear suggestions on how Israel can stop this without it. Perhaps we can pass another 50 or so UN resolutions?

[...] You’ll notice from his comments on this post that Tim doesn’t necessarily agree with me on matters political; this should not be construed to mean that I think he’s wrong. What I’ve learned over the years is that he and I often want exactly the same thing but we can’t agree on the method that should be used to accomplish the desired goal. [...]

I suppose most people who care have their minds made up on this issue. However, this FOX news clip speaks volumes about this country’s attitude to the Lebanon crisis:

And this, if true, is a fascinating bit of info I had never heard of:

“Another problem was the Jewish question. Patton did not regard the Jews as a nation, but rather as a religion. He pointed out that Jews were citizens of many nations, like Catholics and Moslems. He opposed the idea of creating a homeland for what he considered to be a religion. Eisenhower had instructed Patton to remove German citizens from their homes, and give them to displaced Jewish people. Patton opposed this practice as being a violation of the Geneva Conventions.”
