It isn’t a blog until you say…
“I’ve been very busy so blogging has been light.”
There, I said it.
Still trying to migrate back to my big powerbook. Actually, this is easy with a few exceptions:
- I need to migrate all of my Thunderbird (mail) and Firefox (web browser) settings from the old machine to the new one. I don’t just mean bookmarks; that’s easy. I mean all of the saved passwords and other things.
- I’ve got a few other apps that have the same issues (Dreamweaver MX, for example). I don’t want to have to re-input the accounts.
I’m sure all of this is doable; I just need to find time to do it.

Are you using Firefox or Safari for browsing? Firefox is simple: just copy the Firefox folder from the old ~/Library/Application (something…gah, I can’t remember) folder to your new home directory. That’ll get all your plugins and cookies and bookmarks and whatnot. I mean, all of it.
Safari is… Well, Safari’s special. I think as long as you get the Keychains folder, the Safari folder and the Cookies folder you should be set. It probably couldn’t hurt to copy the com.apple.safari.plist file either.
(Please note: I am not at my Mac ATM, so actual file and folder names may be slightly innacurate)

I managed to get everything working except Dreamweaver MX - it still asks for a license key.
No problem – I do have one – but I wonder if it will actually have any of my settings afterward. If that is the worst I can live with it.
I have a bookmark sync program that allows me to move all of my bookmarks to Safari. The rest is no big deal as I do not normally use Safari.

Dreamweaver, huh? Outside of my experience BUT I would avise you to check your old prefs directory for invisible files/folders. Hell, check your whole home directory.
Stupid invisible files.
