Note that Star Wars is not in this list

Before it is too late in the year, here is the list of the 10 worst holiday specials – ever.

Yes, I know already

Enough people have written me about the proposed San Francisco gun ban that I have to respond here:

Yes, I am aware of it. No, I don’t think it matters – well, not to me, as I generally try to avoid cities that regularly smell like urine. Oddly, while I don’t think it matters, it is quite important and must be defeated.

You can read more here from Alphecca – scroll down to see the details on the SF nonsense.

New ‘blog

Note the new blog on the right, Cathy’s World.

I was led to this blog by a link from Instapundit to an article of hers entitled The Fish-in-a-Barrel Left. Funny, in an interesting way that I can’t quite put my finger on.

Check it out. You might like it.

One and all!

Hope all of you are having a very merry HanaChristmaKwanzaDon.

Or Festivus. (Ok, Festivus was on the 23rd, get over yourselves.)

Or whatever you celebrate back on your planet.

There are some big changes afoot here at Chez Templin, and I imagine a few of them are going to be quite entertaining.

As of January 2nd Pam and I will be parents to a 17 year-old girl. I won’t – yet – go into the details, but let’s say that this was her decision, not ours, and as a result I tend to think this isn’t just a temper tantrum. We’ve already filed with the attorney and papers are being served. Her mother says she will go along with this; it will certainly be easier on us if she does.

(For those who don’t know the afore-mentioned 17 year-old is my daughter, Allison, from a previous marriage.)

It’s going to be an interesting shift around here. Previously the oldest child, Phillip, was 9. There is a large difference between how you handle a 9 year-old and a 17 year-old. After all, she only has a year to go and she could actually join the Army.

One of the first things will be to get her a drivers license. (What? She’s 17 and she doesn’t have one? Long story.) And none of this, although I see nothing wrong with that behavior in a parent. It’s just that my gut says it won’t be needed.

So expect a few more interesting stories as we try to cope with the new arrival.

And wish me luck and a lot of patience.

Posting

Frankly, I’ve had no time to post. Between work, and travel for work, and Christmas shopping, and legal/family matters that I’ve been dealing with there is simply no time to post.

I don’t expect this to change much until after the new year. So, feel free to stop by, but don’t expect much until 2005.

Life in the midwest

How I feel, every day, in the midwest:

(Ok, ok, not the dress. Or the hairdo. And yellow shoes? Please.)

You know, after this week I’m tempted to do something much like this:

For finally evolving past LiveJournal (note: link not safe for work, but rather representative of a large portion of the LiveJournal userbase).

And, yes, I do work for Pocky.

Time to start reading Garfield again

I love the new Garfield comic strip.

Computing Ancient History

I admit that this post is a little dry for those who are not interested in computing history.

However, I found the Russian Virtual Computing Museum to be fascinating. Those machines are huge.

A new weblog to check out

Here is a weblog called Blond Justice written by an anonymous public defender.

It gives some interesting insight into our justice system.

Check it out.

I think I just passed myself in the hallway

Too busy for words, so no time to post some of the scrumptious links I have for you.

For now please take a look at this site that details the evils of scary, scary “assault” weapons. You may wish to consider donating to this important research.
